9.6″ x 7.2″ x 2.5″ deep – perfect for baking meat loaf or banana bread! The Art of Polish Pottery, a centuries-old traditional craft, originated in Silesia, a German province, where the first known pieces of ‘Bunzlauer’ stoneware date back to the 16th century. Skilled artisans crafted these early pieces by hand, decorating them using a folk art stamping technique with potatoes. Original designs, inspired by the peacock feather, feature cobalt blue, sage green, and ferrous red hues, which continue to influence modern patterns. Today, Polish artists individually handcraft and decorate each piece, utilizing small sponges to stamp patterns and colors. The pottery undergoes a rigorous process involving ingredient mixing, molding, decoration application, and glazing, followed by a double-firing technique. This labor-intensive method ensures the pottery’s durability, making it resistant to cracks and chips, and safe for use in microwaves, dishwashers, ovens, and freezers. Each piece in our Polish Pottery Collection is unique, boasting hand-painted artistry that sets it apart. To complement our pottery, we’ve also curated a range of exquisite hand-blown glassware from Poland, perfect for adding to your collection.
