The first known ‘Bunzlauer’ stoneware pieces, dating back to the 16th century, were handcrafted and adorned with a unique folk art stamping technique using potatoes. Original designs, influenced by the peacock feather motif, feature the signature colors of cobalt blue, sage green, and ferrous red, continuing to inspire modern-day patterns. Each piece is individually handcrafted and hand-decorated by skilled Polish artists, who meticulously stamp patterns and colors using small sponges. After a rigorous process of mixing ingredients, molding the pottery, applying decorations and glaze, the pottery undergoes a double-firing process. This painstaking craftsmanship ensures the pottery is extremely durable, resistant to cracks and chips, and safe for use in the microwave, dishwasher, oven, and freezer.
