9.5″ diameter and 1.75″ deep The Art of Polish Pottery, a traditional craft with centuries-old roots in Silesia, Germany, is characterized by its unique, handcrafted, and hand-decorated stoneware pieces. Dating back to the 16th century, the first known “Bunzlauer” pieces were made using a folk art stamping technique with potatoes. The original designs, inspired by the peacock feather, feature cobalt blue, sage green, and ferrous red colors, still used today. Skilled Polish artisans individually craft and decorate each piece using small sponges to apply patterns and colors. The pottery undergoes a rigorous process involving ingredient mixing, molding, decoration application, and glazing, followed by double firing. This process results in extremely durable pottery that is resistant to cracking and chipping, making it perfect for microwave, dishwasher, oven, and freezer use. Our Polish Pottery collection is complemented by a range of beautiful, hand-blown glassware from Poland.
