Kustom Engineers refined the Defender 5H to create the DEFENDER5HMOD, a 5-watt tube guitar amp head renowned for its vintage tube amp tones. Upgrades include replacing ceramic capacitors with high-quality polyester film and electrolytic types, and larger capacitance values for increased low-end response and gain. The result is a livelier, harmonically rich tone with a more pleasing distortion characteristic, akin to classic tweed and British-style circuits, and a fuller note bloom typically associated with boutique and vintage amplifiers. The Hot Mod sound is easily accessible via the vintage “chicken head” style knobs on the Bass Response and Volume controls.
